In June 1963, the 230SL was initially introduced to the market at the Geneva Motor Show. This was the first of the W113 models, with it’s innovative design sparking alot of interest.
The chassis was based on the W111 sedan platform, due to the popularity in it’s stylistic characteristics, yet the car sported a reduced wheelbase, by 11.8inches. They have a double wishbone front suspension and an independant single-joint. The cars also feature recirculating ball steering, with optional power steering, as well as low pivot swing rear axle with transverse compensator spring.
