250SL

250SL

In December 1966, 3 years after the 230SL was brought to the market, the 250SL was introduced, and then produced through until 1968. With this one-year production run, the 250SL is the rarest model of the Pagoda’s, with only 5,196 produced.

The 250SL sparked innovation for a 2+2 body style. This meant that these cars only had the removeable hardtop, and no soft top. Instead, a small fold-down rear bench seat replaced the well where the soft top rested, between the parrenger seats and boot. This configuration in part named the model the “California Coupe”.

In the process of restoring a Pagoda to it’s factory standard, the colour is to be carefully considered. These are the origionally avaliable colours for the W113 vehicles, we use as inspiration to preserve the authenticity of the classic cars.

250SL Specifications

The stiffer suspension and sporty feel of earlier SL’s were kept, but it improved it’s legerity with an imprpved engine and rear disc brakes. This increased to a 2,496cc / 2.5L M129.II engine with 0.2in increased stroke and 0.1in increased valve ports. The pre-existing 4 main bearings was upgraded to seven, with torque improving to 22.0 mkg @ 4200rpm.

230SL

In June 1963, the 230SL was initially introduced to the market at the Geneva Motor Show. This was the first of the W113 models, with it’s innovative design sparking alot of interest.
