Firstly, we think it is vital that the car is identified, and it’s origin and history is understood. All Mercedes Benz cars are produced with Data Cards, that give a detailed insight into the specifications of the car, and how it would have origionally left the factory.

There are four types of data cards for the W113 cars that all read differently. The information varies slightly depending on the year of the car, however it gives information such as the paint and upholstery codes, transmission and axle numbers, and dates etc.

This gives a detailed picture of the car when it was made, which we see as a starting point to get back to.

02

The next stage is to break down the car, to see what there is to work with. It is important with these classic cars to fully take apart and examine thoroughly. This is due to the nature of the car’s age, making it more condusive for issues to have occurred over time.

From this, we can establish any problems initially and source any parts nescessary, as well as indentify any areas of improvement you may want to undertake with the car.

03

This is where the restoration begins. Once the car has been understood, disassembled and a plan has been outlined, the car can begin to be reconstructed.

Throughout this stage of the process, we pay respect to the heritage by keeping the car’s origional identity at the forefront of the design.

04

Finally, the car is to be reset back to it’s factory standard, giving it a new life. This stage includes choosing options such as paint codes and upholstery colours.

Through undertsanding the car’s genesis, we are able to use this to inspire the aesthetic of the vehicle. However, we also allow for bespoke options in these areas, to create a completely unique Pagoda.

Restoration. When a car is approaching 60 years old as many of the todays Pagodas are there are either 3 ways to fully enjoy them. First, the car is bought with very low original miles and has been kept in a garage, somewhere warm, serviced and looked after (single owner etc) through it life. Or you buy a car restored by someone who has done a competent job that is documented and done correctly. Or you buy a car and have it restored yourself by someone competent who does not cut corners for you.
